New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara sent social media into a frenzy after a remarkable play he made in the third quarter of a game against the Washington Commanders.
Down 17-0, the Saints delved into their bag of surprises and pulled out a trick play.
Quarterback Spencer Rattler threw a backwards pass to wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. who set up to make a pass.
He spotted Kamara streaking toward the end zone and lofted a ball in his direction.
Kamara looked up, saw the ball was coming his way, and managed to haul in the pass one-handed while managing to stay in-bounds.
NFL fans went wild after that catch, praising Kamara for his amazing display of athletic ability.
Saints running back Alvin Kamara made this amazing one-handed catch for a touchdown
Kamara’s catch sparked an ill-fated comeback for the Saints that fell just short
‘Alvin Kamara the only hope the Saints got lmao,’ wrote one user on X, formerly Twitter.
Another wrote, ‘Remember the offseason when a bunch of spreadsheet nerds tried to tell you Kamara was washed?’
‘imagine he got a chance with a winning team… such a wasted talent f**k the saints and f**k derek carr,’ said another NFL fan.
That touchdown sparked an inspired comeback attempt from the Saints – who rallied back from that 17 point deficit.
On the final play of the game, Rattler completed a pass to tight end Foster Moreau for a touchdown to make it a 20-19 game.
When faced with the option of kicking an extra point for a tie or going for a two-point conversion for the win, the Saints chose the latter option.
Unfortunately for them, Rattler’s pass attempt was swatted away and Washington walked out with a victory.
