Shannon Sharpe and Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson have argued that Ricky Pearsall was wrong to not have handed over his Rolex as soon as he was getting robbed following his gunshot wound on Saturday.
The two former NFL pros, dubbed as some of the ‘most influential athletes in social media,’ discussed Pearsall’s near-death experience on their podcast, Nightcap, a few hours after the incident.
Pearsall was walking alone shortly after 3:30 pm when a suspect attempted to rob him with a gun on Geary Boulevard in the Union Square area of San Francisco on Saturday.
The rookie wide receiver refused to give up his watch, as he tried to defend himself against the robber, who was also found injured by his own gun shot, according to police.
‘No material thing is worth your life,’ the Nightcap show wrote over its footage of Sharpe and Johnson reacting to Pearsall’s situation.

‘Ricky Pearsall was shot in an attempted robbery… He is in a serious but stable condition,’ Sharpe said, to which Johnson replied: ‘Okay, he good. There’s another lesson in this. Nothin’ is worth your life.
‘You can buy another Rolex. If someone’s tryna take your car, you can buy another car.’
‘If somebody comes up to and they ain’t go no gun, no knife and they say ”Ocho give it up.” You takin’ it off that freely?’ Sharpe then asked his co-host.
Without hesitation, Johnson replied: ‘Yes! If somebody comes up to you and says ”Let me get whatever it is off of you,” you already know they’re holding.’

Police identified the suspect as a 17-year-old male resident of Tracy, California, about 63 miles (101 kilometers) east of San Francisco, who also was transported to San Francisco General.
His condition was not immediately disclosed.
A gun allegedly belonging to the suspect was recovered and investigators believe he acted alone, police said, adding that there was no indication Pearsall was targeted because he is a player for the city’s football team.
