A lawsuit filed in Minneapolis accuses former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson of defaulting on a $2.4million loan.
Crown Bank says Peterson took out the loan in May 2016 and defaulted five months later in October. The lawsuit does not specify the purpose of the loan.
The suit says that Peterson entered into a forbearance agreement that month where he agreed to pay back the $2.4million by December 2016.
By that time December came around, he had only paid back $1.2million.
Peterson asked the bank for more time, and paid down the loan so that he owed $594,000.
The bank’s lawsuit seeks the money Peterson still owes plus interest, totalling about $602,726, saying Peterson ‘failed to comply with Crown Bank’s demands.’

Crown Bank’s suit says that Peterson, pictured above with his wife Ashley Brown, still owes $594,000 on the loan. The lawsuit seeks the money Peterson still owes plus interest, totalling about $602,726, saying Peterson ‘failed to comply with Crown Bank’s demands.’
Peterson’s attorney, Scott Zolke, of Los Angeles, did not immediately return a call seeking comment on Peterson’s behalf.
Peterson was drafted to the Minnesota in 2007, where he played through 2016, becoming the team’s all-time leader in rushing yards.
He signed with the New Orleans Saints in April 2017 and was traded to the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday.
In November 2015, Peterson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor child injury charge when he was accused of abusing his son.
Peterson agreed to pay a $4,000 fine, serve 80 hours of community service, take parenting classes and is finishing up his two years of probation.
Peterson was indicted in September of 2015 on a felony charge of injury to a child for using a wooden switch to discipline his then four-year-old son earlier this year in suburban Houston.
The All-Pro running back says he never intended to harm his son and was disciplining him in the same way he had been as a child growing up in East Texas.
The boy suffered cuts, marks and bruising to his thighs, back and on one of his testicles, according to court records.
The case revived a debate about corporal punishment, which is on the decline in the U.S. but still widely practiced in homes and schools.
Peterson has six children in total.
