Nick Knowles ‘barely has energy to walk to car’ after Strictly Come Dancing training

When celebrity contestants sign up for Strictly Come Dancing, they spend long and intense days training one-on-one with their professional dance partners.

So it is little wonder that romances have often developed and brought a cruel end to so many existing relationships, leading to it being dubbed ‘the Strictly curse’.

But the fiancée of ladies’ man Nick Knowles – who is 27 years his junior – can breathe a sigh of relief after the DIY SOS presenter told The Mail on Sunday that he hasn’t got the energy for an affair after his Strictly training sessions.

The 61-year-old host said that rehearsals for the programme are so brutal that he has had to crawl to his car afterwards, and is using ice baths to recover.

When asked about the Strictly curse, Knowles, who is taking part in the 20th anniversary series of the show, said: ‘I barely have the energy to walk out to the car afterwards. That’s not an issue.

‘Honestly, we did a day’s training yesterday, and I literally crawled out to the car and sat with my feet in a bath of cold water for an hour when I got home.’

Knowles proposed to Katie Dadzie, 34, a lingerie business owner, while filming in the US last August.

The presenter – who has fronted the show Who Dares Wins – also revealed that he has lost just under two stone since he began training for the Saturday night dance contest around six weeks ago.

He added: ‘I was very fat, I’ve lost a lot of weight. I’ve done about six weeks of training to get fit enough to start dancing.

‘That’s the main thing, be fit enough to be able to do it, because it is unbelievably hard work.’
