Nicola Thorp shares intimate details from the moment fiancé Nikesh Patel proposed

Nicola Thorp has opened up about the moment new fiancé Nikesh Patel proposed to her at their flat last month. 

Appearing on Jeremy Vine on Thursday, the former Coronation Street star said Nikesh set up candles, photographs of their pair together and even blindfolded her for the surprise. 

‘There was candles everywhere and he was in a tuxedo and there was photos everywhere about us and a little nod to my grandmother passed away,’ Nicola explained. 

‘I was in tears,’ she added.  

Nicola said she was shocked at the proposal, as Nikesh never asked about her ring size or the type of diamond she wanted. 

She also added that she thought he was setting up an ‘escape room’ in their flat for date night. 

‘The moment was unusual because I wasn’t expecting it, I thought, he’ll ask me questions about rings sizes or what kind of ring I want and he hadn’t. He blindfolded me,’ she said. 

‘I thought we were having a date night, I thought he was setting up an escape room… he knows I love that sort of thing.’

‘And then I took the blindfold off and there was candles everywhere and he was in a tuxedo and there was photos everywhere about us and a little nod to my grandmother who had passed away. I was in tears.’

She added: ‘We’re very, very happy. This is my fiancé, I’m getting used to saying that still.. we’ve been together two years. It’s a good ring.’

Nicola announced her engagement to fiancé Nikesh late last month. 

Nicola, 34, who played Nicola Rubinstein in the Corrie until 2018 and again briefly in 2019, took to Instagram to share a picture of herself showing off her ring as she cosied-up to Nikesh, 38.

She could be seen wearing a red dress as she stood in a room full of balloons while holding her finger up to show off her gold ring which featured a teardrop shape green emerald stone and glistening diamonds.

The pair jokingly posed with their mouths open wide as if they were shocked, with Nikesh looking dapper in a white shirt and black bow tie.

In another image, Nicola could be seen smiling as she rested her hands on her partner’s chest and leant in close to him. 

Nikesh is known for having appeared in a number of television shows including Indian Summers, Starstruck and the mini-series Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Nicola did not caption her photo but she was inundated with congratulatory messages in the comments section.

In a sweet Instagram post, she looked sensational as she donned a black dress while lovingly wrapping her arms around her beau who put on a suave display in a navy suit.

‘A birthday surprise,’ she captioned the shot which saw the London Has Fallen star flash a gleeful smile while leaning in for a warm embrace.

Nikesh called the brunette beauty his ‘favourite human otter’ and a ‘megababe’ in his own snap, which saw the pair beaming from-ear-to-ear while enjoying a trip to the beach.

Nicola called it quits with her Corrie co-star boyfriend Charlie de Melo two years ago, following a relationship which lasted 10 months.
