Nicole Kidman in line to win an Emmy award

She’s an Academy Award winning actress who has lately turned to television roles in Big Little Lies and the miniseries Top of the Lake: China Girl.

And now Nicole Kidman is set to reap the rewards as she heads into the Emmys as favourite to win Outstanding Lead Actress.

The 50-year-old is in line to win the award for her acclaimed role as abused wife Celeste Wright in the seven-part miniseries Big Little Lies, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The drama – which has been co-executive produced by Nicole – has been nominated for a further 13 awards including Outstanding Limited Series.

Nicole said creating the show was an intense experience, and that she finds it ‘painful’ to watch.

‘It’s deeply uncomfortable and it is complicated, which is what I wanted to make,’ she said, according to The Daily Telegraph.

‘The role entered my psyche in a way that I didn’t want it to, but it just did.

‘I was lucky that I have Keith (Urban), who I could go home to and who is very solid.’

She has co-star Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Lange, Susan Sarandon, Carrie Coon and Felicity Huffman as competition for the award.

Nicole paid tribute to Reese, who she lived next to for five and a half months while the pair were shooting the series.

The actress said the pair would often share dinners and stories together, and that ‘so much’ of their friendship shows on screen.

Nicole was recently spotted with another actress friend Naomi Watts, as they attended the Michael Kors fashion show in New York City last week.
