‘I think getting past the concept of it being this impersonation, which it isn’t meant to be, it is her portraying this extraordinary woman’s life on screen and that is what she does so well.’

Meanwhile, mother Janelle also said she ‘couldn’t be prouder’ and is looking forward to watching Nicole’s new film.

‘She has done 65 movies I heard the other day. I am looking forward to seeing this. We have got everybody together for Christmas,’ she said.

The film is based on a true story and is centred around Lucille (played by Kidman) and her husband Desi Arnaz (Javier Bardem) as they face a crisis that could end their careers and another that could end their marriage.

Nicole recently revealed that director Aaron Sorkin asked her over Zoom if she would be interested in playing Lucille Ball for the movie.

‘Yes, I would love to do anything with you,’ the actress remembered replying while promoting the film on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Nicole also said once she started to study Lucille that she loved playing her because she was such a physical comedian.

She said after she read the script she was completely consumed and captivated by the story of Lucille and Desi Arnaz.

She also said that Aaron was specific that he didn’t want her to do an impersonation of Lucille Ball, which was not something she was interested in doing.
