Nicole Scherzinger channelled animated cartoon Betty Boop as she attended the premiere of the musical inspired by the character this weekend.

The actress and singer, 46, was at the opening night of BOOP! with Katharine McPhee Foster in New York on Saturday.

Wearing the character’s signature red lip, the singer, 46, made sure her eyelashes were as long and striking as Betty’s too.

Nicole also emulated the character with a bodycon mini dress, which was black and white and accentuated the former Pussycat Doll’s figure.

With her hair tied back in a bun, Nicole made sure all eyes were on her stunning makeup as she posed on the red carpet at The Broadhurst Theatre.

She was not the only famous face in attendance at the event and was joined by Katharine, 41, and her husband David, 75.

David Foster notably wrote music for the play, which is based on the story of the animated character.

Boop! The Musical initially premiered in Chicago back in 2023, but Saturday’s event marked the beginning of its Broadway run.

Nichole has made her love of musical theatre known over the years and appeared herself in several big-name shows, including Cats and Sunset Boulevard.

The show’s synopsis reads: For almost a century, Betty Boop has won hearts and inspired fans around the world with her trademark looks, voice, and style.

‘Now, in BOOP!, Betty’s dream of an ordinary day off from the super-celebrity in her black-and-white world leads to an extraordinary adventure of colour, music, and love in New York City.

‘One that reminds her and the world, “You are capable of amazing things.”‘

David Foster told PEOPLE of the play: ‘She has everything in her life, but she still has, she still needs something to shout about that she hasn’t found.

‘And if you see the play, you’ll understand.’

David’s glittering career has seen him obtain an impressive 40 hits on Billboard Top 100.

The musician has also worked on other musicals including Dreamgirls, for which he won a Grammy.

His wife Katherine is no stranger to the world of musicals either and was runner-up on the fifth season of American Idol in 2006.

Since then, she has not only had a successful career in music, but in acting too with credits including The House Bunny.

She made her Broadway debut in 2018 in the musical Waitress and has since performed in the West End too.

Despite having a 35-year age gap with David, she has said the difference has never mattered to them, although it has led to some disagreements when it comes to disciplining their son, who they welcomed in 2021.
