‘Cosima said to me, “Mum, would you rather be a real person like you or someone who has hair and make- up done to go to the supermarket? It is better to be a real person.” She’s right.’

The TV personality also revealed her two children are her biggest fans, though they do mock her for her rather seductive presenting style.

She said: ‘When I am on TV I cook the food that I cook at home but my children always tease me.

Explaining further about her style on TV, she insisted that it was ‘not an act’ but simply a reaction to being ‘nervous and ‘a bit awkward’.

She added that she was ‘an incredibly shy child’ and that childishness in turn led her to act ‘quite camp’ rather than being ‘coquettish’.

Nowadays, Nigella is a big hit in Australia, having starred as a guest judge on the Australian version of Masterchef.

The brunette beauty told the publication that the Australian version is ‘better’ as is the food, but noted that she wasn’t referring to the British version as she has not watched it.

She went on to say that they have a ‘friendlier atmosphere’ Down Under and that she ‘likes’ the people there.

When asked if she had ‘broken Australia’, the star coyly brushed off the suggestion, stating that it ‘makes me sound rather violent’.

Meanwhile, Nigella recently revealed that she’s a ‘home cook’ rather than a professional chef.

Speaking with TV Week in May, she said: ‘Yes I write about food and cook it on TV, but I’m very much a home cook.’

The domestic Goddess added: ‘I had no idea I’d end up being a food writer. I was 38 when my first cookbook was published. I am emphatically not a chef!’
