Nine boss Hugh Marks CONFIRMS Karl Stefanovic will attend the Logies

Karl Stefanovic will attend the 61st annual TV Week Logie Awards on Sunday after being unceremoniously dumped from the Today show in December last year.

Channel Nine boss Hugh Marks confirmed the 44-year-old has scored a seat at TV’s night of nights as he spoke at the National Press Club in Canberra on Wednesday.

It’s believed Karl will attend the annual awards ceremony on the Gold Coast without his new wife, Jasmine Yarbrough, 34, as she continues to present her shoe range to fashion buyers in Paris, France.

On Monday, The Australian reported Karl will turn up to this year’s Logies ‘despite not appearing on Channel Nine’s final RSVP list of approximately 90 people’.

The publication also claimed Karl’s absence from the list could be a ploy by Channel Nine to keep his highly-anticipated Logies comeback a secret from the public.

The newspaper also suggested Karl’s new wife would supposedly ‘take a leave pass’ from this year’s awards ceremony on Queensland’s Glitter Strip.

It was reported earlier this month that Jasmine would be presenting her shoe range to fashion buyers in Paris this week, with business partner Tamie Ingham.

Jasmine revealed on Instagram on Tuesday that she and Tamie had just landed in the French capital.

The 34-year-old shared a gorgeous snap online of herself and Tamie, both cutting stylish figures, saying they have a ‘big week ahead’ for their brand, Mara and Mine.

‘First day in Paris,’ Jasmine wrote.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine and representatives for both Karl and Jasmine for comment.

Meanwhile one of the Logies’ most memorable controversies occurred when Karl hosted the Today show drunk the morning after the 2009 ceremony.

Karl infamously reported from Melbourne’s Crown Casino looking visibly worse for wear, and even confessed on air that he hadn’t had any sleep.

In a 2014 interview, the high-profile journalist admitted he was ‘smashed’ and that it would have gone unnoticed if it wasn’t for the popularity of YouTube.

‘This was the first Logies when stuff really started working on the Internet,’ Karl said.

‘I remember seeing it on Today Tonight and going, “Oh God”. I really was drunk…or at least I certainly looked and sounded drunk.’

In 2010, Karl was banned from the bar and made to work as a red carpet correspondent to prevent a repeat performance.

Karl, who fronted the Today show between 2005 and 2018, previously took home a Gold Logie in 2011.

Meanwhile Karl is reportedly in ‘secret negotiations’ with Nine to return to the Today show, after being dramatically dumped from the breakfast program in December.

A representative for Channel Nine meanwhile denied that Karl would be going back to Today, telling Daily Mail Australia on Sunday June 16: ‘He’s not going back on [the] Today show.’

It comes after Woman’s Day magazine alleged earlier this month, that Karl could jump into the hosting seat once again and that he’s in secret negotiations.

‘Of course Nine are denying it, but it’s 100 per cent correct that they are actively chasing Karl to come back – everyone at the network knows Today needs the TV version of open-heart surgery to even survive,’ a ‘source’ told the publication.

The source added that Karl’s return to the ailing Today show is conditional on his ‘admitting defeat’ and to ‘publicly acknowledge he had to leave because of personal issues’.

A representative for Karl however, denied the claims, telling Daily Mail Australia earlier this month: ‘There’s no truth to this rumour whatsoever.’

‘Karl is not returning to Today, nor are there any talks taking place – secret, or otherwise – to that effect.’

Woman’s Day also reported that Nine is planning a massive overhaul of Today at the end of this year – with completely new anchors.

However, a representative has flatly denied this claim, bluntly telling Daily Mail Australia earlier this month: ‘It’s not true.’

There is no denying, however, that the network is desperate to resuscitate the Today show, as it continues to flail in the ratings.

After Karl was dumped as co-host, Deborah Knight, 46, replaced him to co-anchor with Georgie, 49.
