- An anonymous reader asks Dr Tracy if fillers can make your face look fatter
- They are hoping to smooth the deep lines running from their nose to mouth
- Dr Tracy recommends FDA-cleared biodegradable fillers such as Juvederm
Q I have deep lines running from my nose to my mouth and would like filler to smooth them, but I am worried as I already have a round, full face and pronounced cheeks. Will fillers make my face look fatter?
A Many people associate fillers with a puffy face that can look distorted or unnatural. Fillers placed incorrectly or in excess can look like this.
Dr Mountford advises FDA-cleared biodegradable fillers such as Juvederm for a naturally smoother appearance (file image)
However, an expert cosmetic doctor who understands the complexity of treating the face will be able to inject filler in strategic ‘lift’ points to support and beautify the face rather than over-volumise.
For example, the more sophisticated way we now treat nasolabial lines is to place filler high up, across the cheek-bone (deep in the skin) to lift.
It softens the nose-to-mouth line in a more pleasing way.
My advice would be to consult an expert to assess your face and show you what the likely cosmetic outcome would be.
I would recommend FDA-cleared biodegradable fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane, these are made up of clear hyaluronic acid gels which closely mimic the natural hyaluronic acid in our skin.
Fees start from around £550 but can vary, depending on your age and requirements.
