Popular department store Nordstrom is branching out and creating a new location with a peculiar characteristic: it will not have any inventory.
The concept store, called Nordstrom Local, is set to open next month for the chain’s Los Angeles customers.
It will be staffed with personal stylists who can order merchandise for customers, and offer several kinds of services inside, the Seattle-based company said.
Innovating: Nordstrom is set to open a new concept store, called Nordstrom Local, without any inventory in Los Angeles next month
Customers will also be able to make online purchases the store, or pick up online orders the same day.
For those looking for personal services and a bit of pampering, the location will offer tailoring and manicure services.
The store is just 3,000 square feet, significantly smaller than the average 140,000-square-foot size of a full Nordstrom store.
Nordstrom senior vice president Shea Jensen says the new concept branch will allow the company to offer its ‘best services in a convenient location’.
