Dermot was impressed by Paul when they teamed up to perform a duet of his song Giants at London’s Natural History Museum last month.

He said: ‘His voice is incredible. He’s never done that before in his life, that’s the most admirable thing.

‘Even knowing how to sing into a microphone is something you learn over time. The fact that he went for it is so cool.

‘I feel that guy can do anything. He’s not in a rush to do a music career right now but I’d love to be a moving part in someone else’s grand dream.’

Paul and Dermot became friends earlier this year when the singer contacted the TV star to congratulate him on his success with Normal People.

The hitmaker explained that he sent Paul a message to see how he was doing at a time when the world was ‘losing their minds over him’.

It comes after Paul is believed to have fallen for US singer Phoebe Bridgers after bonding over an Instagram Live.

The actor did a vodcast with the indie rocker, 25, in May, and the pair have been talking ever since.

After their broadcast finished, the pair stayed chatting and having drinks with each other, according to The Mirror.

Paul then invited the musician to Kinsale, Co Cork, where they enjoyed a number of tequila slammers together.

A source said: ‘Paul invited pals and they played wild drinking games.

‘They’re both smitten. His membership on the celeb dating site Raya is a smokescreen to cover up that they’re secretly an item.’

During their Instagram Live, Paul also admitted: ‘I think it’s well documented that I love your music.’

Phoebe then replied: ‘Well, that makes me blush.’
