North Carolina mother kills two children, self

  • Police in Charlotte said that the woman assaulted her two children, aged 7 and 3
  • She then jumped off a highway bridge, taking her own life
  • The two children were pronounced dead at a Charlotte hospital
  • No identity has been released regarding the children or the mother

A North Carolina woman killed her two children before taking her own life by jumping from a highway bridge on Saturday.

The woman, physically assaulted her son, 7, and daughter, 3 and inflicted life threatening injuries upon them. She then jumped off a bridge on Interstate 485.

The children were still alive when they were found, albeit with life threatening injuries. They were pronounced dead at Carolinas Medical Center.

Part of Interstate 485 was shut down following the woman’s suicide.

The identities of the mother and children have not been released yet.

Police stated that they had never been called to the residence in question before, and no one else was at the home when police officers arrive on the scene.

Since 2015, women have killed their children at least once a year in Charlotte, according to the Charlotte Observer.
