Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo attracting interest from Standard Liege – after being recalled to the City Ground following an uninspiring loan spell at Cardiff City

  • Defender has made just five appearances for the Championship side this term
  • Panzo was brought to Forest by former England youth manager Steve Cooper
  • Forget complaining, Nottingham Forest should write a letter to players in THAT wall and tell them: ‘You’re fools’ – It’s All Kicking Off

Nottingham Forest defender Jonathan Panzo is wanted on loan by Standard Liege.

The 23-year-old recently returned from a loan spell at Cardiff City who are among the clubs asking about Liverpool defender Nat Phillips as the side prepares to shuffle the pack ahead of the second-half of the season.

Panzo spent last season on loan at Coventry City, helping the Sky Blues reach the Championship play-off finals – but was unable to take them over the line as the side fell to Luton Town on penalties at Wembley.

The 23-year-old was linked to a move to Rangers last summer, but ultimately sent to Wales, where the defender made just five appearances across all competitions.

Panzo was head-hunted and brought to the City Ground under the aegis of former Forest manager Steve Cooper in 2022.

The pair had previously worked together when Panzo was a member of Cooper’s England under-17s side.

Before joining the Tricky Trees, Panzo – who started at Chelsea’s academy at the age of nine – had seen out stints in Ligue 1 at Monaco and Dijon.

Should the defender make the move to Standard Liege, it would make his second appearance in the Belgian Pro League after he was loaned to Cercle Brugge for the 2019-2020 season.
