Nottingham Forest ‘trying to sign Dutch striker Jizz Hornkamp from Willem II’… with Steve Cooper targeting a THIRTEENTH summer signing as the Reds’ busy transfer window continues

  • Nottingham Forest have already spent over £85million since their promotion
  • But they are not finished in the transfer market and have targeted Jizz Hornkamp
  • The former Ajax academy player only joined Dutch side Willem II in January
  • He scored four goals in 13 games as the club were relegated from the Eredivisie

Nottingham Forest are reportedly attempting to sign Dutch striker Jizz Hornkamp as their busy summer of transfer business continues.

Steve Cooper has already added 12 new faces to his squad since winning promotion to the Premier League and broke the club’s transfer record to sign frontman Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin for £17.5million.

But Forest want to bolster their attack even more, as Lewis Grabban has left the club as a free agent despite being offered a new contract.

According to The Athletic, Hornkamp is one of ‘several’ striker targets identified that the Reds are trying to agree a deal for.

The 24-year-old, who spent time in Ajax’s youth system, only joined Willem II from  Den Bosch in January but could not prevent them from being relegated from the Eredivisie.

He scored four goals in 13 games in the second half of last season, having hit 25 goals in 53 appearances across two and a half years in the Dutch second tier for Den Bosch.

Hornkamp’s contract at Willem II lasts until 2024, but the Dutch side may struggle to keep hold of him if a Premier League switch is on the table.

Forest’s transfer business has caught the eye this summer, with Jesse Lingard, Neco Williams and Dean Henderson among those who have moved to the City Ground.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis has spent over £85million in a clear statement of intent as the club attempt to avoid relegation back to the Championship.

The Reds begin the season with a trip to Newcastle on Saturday, which will be their first top-flight fixture in 23 years.
