Nottingham Forest have been told that they will have to pay between £12.8million and £17million if they are to sign Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Mavropanos, 25, has a release clause of £21million but Stuttgart are prepared to let him leave for a lower fee.

According to BILD, Eintracht Frankfurt and Napoli are also interested in Mavropanos, who has previously been linked with West Ham.

It is expected that former Arsenal centre-back Mavropanos will depart Stuttgart this summer, although his destination is currently unclear.

Speaking in May about his future, Mavropanos said: ‘I can’t make any promises because sometimes things in football can change from one day to the next. But what I can say is that I feel at home at VfB and I really enjoy my time here.’

Forest’s Greek owner Evangelos Marinakis is said to want a deal for his compatriot Mavropanos to be concluded.

After starting his career at PAS Giannina, Mavropanos signed for Arsenal in January 2018, when Arsene Wenger was still in charge.

Mavropanos impressed against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League a few months after joining but only made eight senior appearances for the Gunners and mainly featured for the club’s Under-21 side.

After loan spells at Nurnberg and Stuttgart, Mavropanos ended up signing for the latter club on a permanent basis in May 2022. In total he has played 89 times for Stuttgart.

In addition, he has been capped by Greece 19 times at senior level.
