Nova FM’s Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli refuses to change his wife Lisa’s engagement ring after she confessed she didn’t like the one he gave her eight years ago
Nova FM host Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli proposed to his wife, Lisa, during a romantic trip to Switzerland in September 2012.
But on Thursday, the 41-year-old radio star revealed Lisa was now asking for a new ring because she didn’t like the one he proposed with eight years ago.
He told his Fitzy & Wippa co-host Sarah McGilvray he refused to change Lisa’s ring, despite her constant requests for a new rock.

He explained: ‘She said to me “I’ve never mentioned this to you before but I don’t like my engagement ring”.’
‘But it’s almost like a snapshot in time right, we went on a holiday, it’s sentimental, we were in Switzerland, we had a beautiful moment on the balcony overlooking the lake and everything that was in that moment is in that ring.’
‘Take away that ring, lose that moment,’ he explained.

Wippa’s wife Lisa rang in to the radio station and explained that she ‘adores the ring’ but it was actually her husband’s idea to buy her a new one after he discovered the diamond needed to be repaired.
She explained: ‘[Wippa] discovered the rock was loose, he said, “don’t wear that, let’s get that fixed”.’
‘And I said “maybe this is a chance for me to remodel this a bit, keep the centre stone and everything, I’m not asking for a bigger ring”.’
‘I’m not asking for a bigger ring!’ Lisa also rang in to the radio station and explained that she ‘adores the ring’ but it was actually Wippa’s idea to buy her a new ring after he discovered the diamond needed to be repaired
‘And he said, “well hang on that represents a time in our lives so I would rather that you keep that ring and we’ll get you a new one”.’
‘Can I just say something here? To men out there who think the ring needs to stay the same forever and they get all precious about it, if I made you wear the same pair of shoes and shirt for the rest of your life you wouldn’t do it. Same as a ring!’ Lisa said.
Wippa and Lisa married back in September 2013, in front of 150 guests on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.
They share three children, sons Theodore, six and Jack, four, and an 11-month-old daughter named Francesca Vera Alice.
