Thousands of Oasis fans were left furious at missing out on tickets due to the new ‘dynamic pricing’ model on Saturday, and the initiative is now heading over to football.

Following the announcement of Oasis’s long-awaited reunion last week, tickets for their gigs went on sale over the weekend, but after waiting patiently in the queue for hours, fans discovered that the prices had doubled during the course of the day due to being in such high demand.

The scheme was branded ‘dynamic pricing’ and was widely slammed by the public as ticket prices increased rapidly in the space of minutes.

But Spanish club Valencia appear to be believe it is a good idea and have announced plans to try it out for their matches moving forward with the ‘support and technology of LaLiga’.

A statement confirming the decision read: ‘One of the new features of the 2024-25 season will be the implementation of dynamic pricing for ticket purchases.

‘Following the global trend in shows, sporting events and entertainment, Valencia CF will join this practice, which has the support and technology of LaLiga.

‘Tickets will therefore go on sale at a base price, which could increase as the days go by, always subject to various parameters such as the occupancy of the stadium area and the proximity of the date, among others.

‘Buying your tickets early will ensure you get the best price! Plan ahead and get your tickets in the best area and at the best price. Prices can be viewed online.’

The new price model is unlikely to go down well with match-going fans who will now face having to pay large sums of money if they opt to get a last-minute ticket to a game.

Ticket prices have been scrutinised in the UK in recent months, but Premier League clubs are yet to implement dynamic pricing, as things stand.

West Ham were slammed for their ‘disgraceful’ prices ahead of their game against Premier League champions Manchester City over the weekend.

Ticket information released back in July revealed that Under 18s could be charged as much as £120, with supporters complaining the prices were ‘driving families out of the game’.

Celtic fans also mocked Rangers for their ticket prices when they faced Manchester United in a pre-season friendly in July.

Despite United fielding a weakened team, with many of their players having featured at Euro 2024 or the Copa America, fans were still charged up to £58 to see the game at Murrayfield.
