‘You never know what a woman is going through’: NRL WAG Zoe Marshall, 34, calls for an end to surrogacy questions after suffering her heartbreaking miscarriage
Zoe Marshall has called for people to stop asking women about their pregnancy plans, after suffering a devastating miscarriage.
The NRL WAG revealed she has been asked if she would use a surrogate, and feels the question is ‘loaded’ and should not be asked.
In an Instagram post shared on Saturday, the 34-year-old wrote at length: ‘A stranger asked me last night ‘would you use a surrogate?’

‘It’s so loaded. Asking these questions has to stop. Asking a woman if she’s trying for a baby? Or when are you having ANOTHER baby? Or suggesting, you should have another, you make such cute kids. Stop.
‘You never know what a woman is going through. Has she just miscarried? Is she physically or mentally trying to recover from a loss, or from the constant disappointment of ‘trying’, is she battling fertility issues?
‘Is she due to get an operation? Is she happy being child free? Happy having just one baby? Two? I’ve been guilty of asking one of those mindless questions without thinking and I get it’s usually not meant with malice.

‘But let this be your hot tip. It’s not a helpful question – really, ever. So no I haven’t thought of having a surrogate. Because I’ve not needed to cross that bridge.
‘To all of the women that have had to dodge these questions. I see you. I feel you. Be patient with your nosy Aunty or the stranger on the internet, they really don’t get it.’
