Another pub in Newcastle has been linked to positive Covid-19 cases as NSW’s Omicron outbreak continues to grow.

NSW Health has advised anyone who visited The Cambridge Hotel on 789 Hunter Street  from 6.30pm on Friday 10 December to 2.30am on Saturday 11 December they are a close contact and must get tested and isolate for seven days.

All household contacts must also get tested and isolate until given each member is given a negative result.

‘It is likely some of these cases have the Omicron variant of concern,’ NSW Health said.

Authorities are also urging those who didn’t check in via the QR codes to follow the health directions given to close contacts.

The Cambridge Hotel is the third venue in Newcastle to be put on alert following superspreader events at The Argyle House and positive cases linked to the Finnegan’s Hotel.

The Argyle House which as been listed as an exposure site from December 8 at 9pm to Thursday December 9 at 3am, has been linked to 200 Covid cases.

Police are investigating whether a positive Covid case attended the nightclub when they were meant to be in isolation, triggering an outbreak of more than 200 people.  

Most of them are believed to have the highly infections Omicron strain, but further testing is underway to confirm.

The outbreak is linked to a boat party five nights earlier on Sydney Harbour where at least five people caught the virus.

Finnegan’s has also been a venue of concern with close contacts dubbed as anyone who visited the pub on Friday December 10 from 6pm to Saturday December 11 at 2:30am.

The new exposure sites comes after a massive spike in cases was seen on Wednesday across NSW with 1,360 new infections.

Health Minister Brad Hazzard warned that based on current modelling, cases could explode to 25,000 a day by the end of January.

The total number of Omicron infections around NSW stands at 110.
