NSW grandmother reveals weight loss without exercise

A grandmother-of-three has completed a remarkable body transformation after undertaking an exercise-free weight-loss program.

Ann McCann, 55, lost a whopping 40 kilograms in only six months after signing up to a low-calorie, detox diet which focuses on ‘controlling food cravings’.

The mother-of-four from New South Wales’ Southern Highlands said she signed up to the program the day after she returned from a holiday cruise in July 2016.

‘I was just so unhealthy. I swelled up like a fish from my toes to my thighs and it hurt to walk up and down stairs,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

Ann said she became fed up with her weight of 104 kilograms, as she would need ’10 to 15 minutes’ to recover from walking up steep slopes and began suffering from depression.

‘You don’t feel good about yourself. What makes the depression worse is you can’t put a swimsuit on and feel comfortable.

‘I was so ready [to lose weight], it was unbelievable. I was sick to death of not being happy with how I looked.

‘I avoided mirrors, hated photographs and my family would always have to check with me after they took a photo – I’d delete 99 per cent of them.’

Ann turned to the Putting Health at the Top program, which appealed to her due to the absence of exercise.

She began eating a maximum 500 calories a day across three meals consisting of only one protein and one vegetable, as well as drinking three litres of water.

After a successful month, Ann entered the program’s ‘maintenance’ phase – designed to teach clients how to sustain a healthy lifestyle.

‘I lost the weight with a diet because I loathe exercise,’ said Ann, who is now a slender 64 kilograms.

‘Now I get a cricket bat out and play with the grandkids, whereas before I’d sit around and drink wine.’

She also revealed the pride felt by her husband David, 59, as well as her four adult children Steven, 35, Peter, 32, Dave, 29, and Lorann, 20.

‘They are so proud of me it’s not funny,’ Ann said.

‘I’ve never weighed less than I have been. Now I weigh five or six kilos less than Dave.’

Ann’s success led Steven, Lorann and her daughter-in-law to take up the program as well.

Steven is well on his way to matching his mother’s success after losing more than 20 kilograms, while Lorann and Ann’s daughter-in-law have both lost more than 15 kilograms.

Feeling better than ever, Ann said she has now caught the travel-bug and is looking forward to enjoying more adventures with husband Dave in the future.

‘I wanted to go back overseas on a better emotional level and travelling is fantastic. I’d like to do more for sure,’ she said.

‘I just want to live healthily and feel good about myself and just go to the wardrobe, put on a t-shirt and look good.’
