Snagged him! Dramatic moment armed police take down man in Bunnings car park

  • The 44-year-old man was confronted by about 20 police officers in car park
  • He was then arrested in the Bunning’s car park in Byron Bay on Thursday

A man has been arrested by police at a Bunning’s carpark in Byron Bay by a squad of armed officers.

The 44-year-old man was confronted by about 20 police officers at 10.30am on Thursday before he was arrested and taken to Byron Bay Police Station.

Dramatic footage shows the police surrounding the man’s white 4WD outside the popular store.

‘The operation relates to an ongoing investigation by the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad,’ a police spokeswoman said.

A shocked onlooker said police searched the man’s car and took everything out before arresting him. 

‘The cops did an amazing job, they were very professional,’ the witness told Echo.

‘Once they got the man locked down he was very cooperative.’
