Nude blogger has Instagram account deactivated warning

Nudist blogger, Jessa O’Brien, has hit out after her Instagram page, The Nude Blogger, was ‘deactivated’, without warning.

The 28-year-old, from the Gold Coast, launched her ‘body-positive’ page in October 2016, and swiftly amassed 42,000 followers.

However, Jessa found herself quickly back at zero followers after she said she thought the profile had been removed because it breached Instagram’s nudity policy.

‘Nearly 10 months in, almost 43,000 followers later, and a hell of a lot of time, energy and effort… and they do this… Not one notification,’ Jessa posted on her blog recently.

INSTAGRAM’S NUDITY POLICY

We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don’t allow nudity on Instagram.

This includes photos, videos, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks. It also includes some photos of female nipples, but photos of post-mastectomy scarring and women actively breastfeeding are allowed.

Nudity in photos of paintings and sculptures is OK, too.

‘Well, not good enough. I wasn’t even given the opportunity to rectify or negotiate the matter before they shut the account down.’

The Nude Blogger continued her post by saying she is ‘sure this has, unfortunately and unjustifiably, happened to many other accounts with pure intentions’, adding that ‘as a blogger, it is pretty crippling’.

‘As most of you know, “body positivity” is a major focus of my blog, and it is a recurring message I constantly talk about and convey through photos,’ she wrote.

‘So yes, nudity is a norm in my blog… albeit non-pornographic and non-sexual.

‘It is not explicit in the slightest! It is a shame that nudity is still considered offensive, especially for the reasons I talk about.

‘I agree, we need to stop sexualising the human body… and that is exactly what my photos and messages are aimed at doing!’.

The 28-year-old has since launched a new profile, The Nude Blogger, where she is sharing new nude photos, alongside her body-positive message.

‘Apologies I’ve been missing for a bit,’ she wrote.

‘I’ve been a woman on a mission. #reactivatethenudeblogger’.

Explaining on her site that she has been following the various steps to speak to ‘the Instagram team’, Jessa confessed that so far her attempts have been to no avail:

‘I woke up this morning to absolutely nothing,’ she said.

‘So I have since pestered the “support” team a little more with another Facebook and Instagram message.’

She has since set up a new account 'in the event I don't get my previous account restored' - on this profile, she shared a screengrab of her original profile (pictured)

In the meantime, Jessa said she had set up ‘this account in the event I don’t get my previous account restored’.

The Nude Blogger’s new Instagram profile has amassed 500 followers in four days.

Meanwhile, her social media feed has been flooded with messages of support.

‘Sorry to hear about your account being deleted. I read your story on your blog and I love what you’re doing,’ one person posted.

‘Welcome back,’ another added, succinctly.
