It has officialy been confirmed that Nutella biscuits are coming to Australia in January 2023.

Fans of the sweet treat, which is massively popular in Europe, have been calling for the biscuits to come to Aussie supermarkets for years.

The Italian biscuit features a creamy heart of Nutella enclosed between two crunchy biscuits, and a bag of 20 only costs $6. 

Bags of the coveted snack hit the biscuit aisle of all major Aussie supermarkets on January ninth.

Aussies were delighted to hear the long-awaited news.

‘These look amazing!’ one woman said.

‘My diet out the window, jeez,’ another commented.

Several fans tagged their family and friends asking them keep an eye out for the snack in supermarkets.

‘You must get these if you see them,’ one woman said to her partner.

Some dedicated foodies even admitted to paying high prices to import them from Europe before it was announced they would be stocked in Australia.

‘Finally! I’ve been getting these online for ages now. I hope they are much cheaper than what I’ve been paying for them, but they are literally so addictive,’ one woman said.

The biscuits are made in Italy by iconic chocolate brand Ferrero.

‘Nutella Biscuits take the traditional biscuit to a new delicious level, so we’re thrilled to be bringing them to our shores to kick off 2023,’ said Azzurra Puricelli, Marketing Manager for Nutella.

‘The first ever biscuits to combine a crunchy golden base filled with a creamy heart of Nutella have been incredibly popular all over Europe.’

‘We’re thrilled to give Aussies and Kiwis a new way to enjoy your favourite chocolate hazelnut spread in the new year.’

Nutella muffin recipe: 

Ingredients:

* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

* 3/4 cup white sugar

* 1/2 teaspoon salt

* 2 teaspoons baking powder

* 1/3 cup vegetable oil

* 1 egg

* 1/3 cup milk

* 1 cup Nutella

Method: 

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. 

2. Grease 12 muffin cups or line with muffin liners.

3. Combine flour, sugar, salt and baking powder.

4. Place vegetable oil into a 1 cup measuring cup; add the egg and enough milk to equal 1 cup

5. Add to flour mixture, and stir until just combined.

6. Divide batter among the muffin cups

7. Spoon about 1 Tbls of Nutella. Use a toothpick, knife, or bamboo skewer to swirl the Nutella.

8. Bake for 14-18 minutes or until a tester comes out clean.

9. Remove muffins from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before removing and putting on a wire rack to cool completely.

10. Top the muffins with a spoon of Nutella and a Nutella biscuit for decoration.
