NYC firefighter who posted racist rants allegedly takes a poop in neighbor’s yard

A New York City firefighter allegedly defecated in a stranger’s backyard on a drunken night out.

Authorities said Joseph Cassano, the son of former fire commissioner Salvatore Cassano, was in Lake Como, New Jersey, when he reportedly pooped on the lawn furniture and sidewalk of a home before passing out in the garage last Saturday.

Cassanno, 28, was arrested on Sunday by police, who gave him a summons for criminal trespass and criminal mischief, reported the New York Daily News.

This not the first time Cassano has been disciplined – having come under fire while working an EMT for allegedly writing racist and anti-Semitic tweets.

According to officials, Cassano was suspended because he is a probationary firefighter.

Cassanno resigned from his job in the FDNY’s Emergency Medical Service after several tweets displaying anti-Semitic, misogynistic and hateful views against minorities were made public.

The bigoted posts were first revealed in March 2013 by the New York Post.

‘I like jews about as much as hitler. #too far? nope!,’ he wrote in one tweet.

He also mocked Martin Luther King Jr: ‘MLK could go kick rocks for all I care, but thanks for the time and a half today.’

Many of Cassano’s critics believe even his resignation was unfair and that Cassano received special treatment from his father, Salvatore Cassano.

Salvatore, who led the department in 2013, allowed his son to resign instead of firing him, according to critics.

After he resigned, Cassano issued this statement: ‘From the bottom of my heart, I’m truly sorry and I apologize for my offensive remarks.

After the tweets were made public, he resigned from his job but he was rehired as an EMT in July 2015

‘My intention was never to hurt anyone, or any group, and these tasteless comments do not reflect the person my parents raised me to be. I know my actions have hurt and disappointed many people, especially my family. I would like to move forward.’

Cassano’s Twitter account was suspended and is still no longer active.

The public dismay over Cassano’s position didn’t stop there. The former EMT was re-hired as an EMT in July 2015.

Within days of graduating from the Fire Academy he was moved from Engine 247 in Borough Park, Brooklyn, to Engine 162/Ladder 82 in Great Kills, Staten Island.

It is believed this is because local elected officials didn’t want him in the heavily Jewish Orthodox neighborhood.
