  • A New Zealand politician has shocked the nation after he twerked on stage
  • David Seymour twerked on Dancing with the Stars in a fluro singlet and shorts
  • The politician was slammed online, much like an Australian opposition leader
  • Bill Shorten tried to dance like locals on a Pacific island near Papua New Guinea

A New Zealand politician shocked the nation after he performed a bold dance move on Dancing with the Stars.

David Seymour took a page out of Miley Cyrus’ infamous book and tried his hand at twerking on the national stage.

The New Zealand right wing ACT party leader and MP for Auckland electorate of Epsom was seen sporting a fluro singlet, tight hot pink shorts and fluro sweat bands as he twerked the night away.

Thousands took to social media claiming Mr Seymour’s electorate ‘cannot forgive’ the cringe-worthy and ‘awkward’ dance moves.

‘Did my poor innocent eyes really just see David Seymour twerk?,’ one person questioned.

For some viewers, the lycra-clad politician’s dorky dance moves brought back flashbacks of Australian Opposition Leader Bill Shorten’s own ‘daggy moves’.

Mr Shorten was mocked in 2015 after footage emerged of him dancing with locals at Kiribati, a Pacific island near Papua New Guinea.

The hilarious dance saw Mr Shorten laughing as he twirled in circles, stomped his feet and left his hands dangled awkwardly beside his waist.

As the dancer wore a traditional head piece, it was the enthusiasm which got the politician through the cringe-worthy performance.

‘I usually have no sympathy for Bill Shorten. But no middle age male should be subjected to this,’ someone commented at the time.
