Mourners at the service at the Mountain Christian Church in Joppa, Maryland walked through a gauntlet of officers from Maryland and neighboring states, who lined the sidewalks to the church in their dress blues – badges wrapped in black bands in honor of their fallen comrade.

Caprio, who’d served on the force for almost 4 years was remembered at the service by four of her fellow officers who spoke of her love of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Harry Potter, they told of sharing pizzas on the hood of patrol cars.

They said she was always available when the precinct got a call for a lost dog.

According to reports, her widow, Tim Caprio told mourners that she loved animals so much, she would ask him to fast forward through the part of The Lion King where Mufasa dies.

Baltimore County Police Chief Terrence Sheridan told WBAL-TV, that officers are struggling with the senseless loss.

‘It’s really a tough time for a lot of people, but we’ll get through it because they’re professionals. They know that they’ve got to continue giving the public that service, of making them safe, and they know that’s going to happen no matter what. We’ll get through the grieving. She’ll always be on our mind,’ Sheridan said.

Bagpipes played as her casket, draped in an American flag, was carried to a waiting hearse.
