An uncle and responding police officers tried to perform CPR, but she was pronounced dead at Tiffin Mercy Hospital.
It’s not clear how long the second-grader at Krout Elementary School was under the drywall before police were called, but the Toledo Blade reported that she had gone to the garage between 7.30 and 10am to look for cats that were kept there.
‘Everyone at the Tiffin Police Department and Fire/EMS Department wish to convey our deepest sympathies to the family,’ the police department said in a statement.
The incident is being called an accident by authorities, who are withholding her name while more of her relatives are notified.
