Oklahoma attorney arrested after trying to pay for sex with 5-year-old girl likes younger children

An Oklahoma City lawyer has been arrested at his home after allegedly attempting to engage in sexual activity with a fictitious five-year-old girl in the small town of Mustang.

Michael Lunday, 55, was caught after a sting operation was set up which led to him being apprehended at his home on Thursday.

It came after the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office were told by a confidential informant that he had been communicating with the youngster and hoped to meet up with her for sex. 

Investigators then carried out the sting communicating with Lunday using text messages and phone calls to ‘finalize the deal and purchase of the child for sex’ which ultimately led to his arrest. 

Lunday was reported to have brought condoms and lubricant for the sexual encounter and had expressed an interest in watching child pornography before the meeting.

‘Investigators used hidden cameras in the residence, and deputies were staged inside the house to effect Lunday’s arrest,’ police explained in a press release.

‘During the conversation, Lunday told the CI he liked younger girls because sexual abuse does not affect them as much. Lunday also wanted to watch child pornography before the child arrived in order to warm himself up and settle his nerves.’

He also disclosed that he had taken Viagra to prepare himself for the encounter and revealed that he had always fantasized about performing oral sex on a child while an adult female watched. 

Authorities were able to make an arrest after Lunday gave the informant $400 for the sex act, which he believed would be split between the informant and a fictitious foster parent providing the child.

Lunday is currently being held at the Canadian County Detention Facility on charges of Lewd Acts with a Child Under 12 and Soliciting Child Prostitution on a $200,000 bond

Investigators say Lunday practiced family law and say they are not ruling out the possibility there are more victims.

They later executed a search warrant of his home and seized a number of electronic devices, including an iPad, laptop computers and his personal cell phone. 

‘We’ve executed warrants on his personal devices, including his house, and we’ve recovered a bunch of electronic devices, and we’re currently in the process of examining those,’ said Maj. Adam Flowers with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office to KOCO5. 

‘We’re not just looking for child pornography but other victims that he may had or other dealings that he tried to set up.’

The confidential informant’s ability to maintain composure while gathering information was also praised by police as being instrumental in the success of the sting operation which took place over a period of four hours. 

‘When we do predator stings, all the time, the conversations we have with the decoys and the suspects, they’re pretty egregious and disgusting. What makes this one even more heinous is the fact that it was a five-year-old,’ said Maj. Flowers.
