The oldest known living person in the United States is celebrating her 114th birthday in Pennsylvania.
The state Aging Department says Delphine Gibson hit the milestone Thursday, getting a personal greeting from Governor Tom Wolf for her accolade.
Gibson was born in South Carolina in 1903 and moved to Pennsylvania after marrying Taylor Gibson in 1928.
She’s been a resident of AristaCare in Huntingdon Park for the past 15 years.

Gibson’s status as the nation’s oldest person is according to the Gerontology Research Group (GRG), which tracks people older than 110 worldwide.
Gibson became the oldest person in the country when Adele Dunlap passed on February 5, 2017, at the age of 114.
According to an interview that the Centre Daily did with GRG Supercentenarian Research and Database Division Director RObert D. Young in February, it is rare that someone as ‘young’ as Gibson would be the oldest person.
He added that in 2014 there were eight people that were at least 114 years old.
Just recently, Marie-Josephine Gaudette was the oldest living American – she was a nun in Italy – at 115 but she died on July 13.
Gibson was said to have married Taylor Gibson in 1928 and had three children – Frank, Moody and Ella.
Taylor Gibson died in 1980.
