Manchester United have confirmed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has signed a new contract to extend his stay as manager at Old Trafford.
The Norwegian has signed a deal which will take his stay at the club until 2024, with an option of a further year.
Solskjaer was appointed on a caretaker basis to replace Jose Mourinho in December 2018 before he was made permanent manager in March 2019 on a three-year deal.

The United legend has told their official website: ‘Everyone knows the feeling I have for this club, and I am delighted to have signed this new contract. It is an exciting time for Manchester United, we have built a squad with a good balance of youth and experienced players that are hungry for success.
‘I have a fantastic coaching team around me, and we are all ready to take that next step on our journey. Manchester United wants to be winning the biggest and best trophies and that’s what we are all striving for. We have improved, both on and off the pitch, and that will continue over the coming seasons.
‘I can’t wait to get out in front of a packed Old Trafford and get this campaign started.’
Though Solskjaer has yet to win a trophy during his reign as manager at United, the club have improved year-on-year since his appointment.
They just had their best season under the Norwegian finishing second in the league, their highest placing since the 2017-18 season.
The club also made the final of the Europa League but suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Spanish side Villarreal.
It’s a good week for United fans after they also confirmed the signing of Jadon Sancho
United are looking to take the next step this season and mount a challenge for the Premier League title, which they haven’t son since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
They have already strengthened the squad this summer with the long-awaited addition of Jadon Sancho.
The English winger was announced as a United player after completing a £73m move from Borussia Dortmund.
Ed Woodward, Executive Vice-Chairman, said: ‘Ole and his staff have worked tirelessly putting the foundations in place for long-term success on the pitch.
He is hoping to mount a title challenge this season after not winning the league since 2013
‘The results of that have become increasingly visible over the past two seasons and we are all looking forward to seeing this exciting team develop further in the years ahead.
‘What is especially pleasing is the way this progress has been achieved with a blend of young, homegrown talent and top-class recruits, playing attacking football in the best traditions of Manchester United. We are more confident than ever that, under Ole’s leadership, we are heading in the right direction.’
If Solskjaer reaches the end of his deal and takes the option of a further year, he will have been manager of the club for six and a half seasons.
