Oliver Hudson is clarifying comments he made last week about ‘childhood trauma’ he faced regarding his mother Goldie Hawn.
The 47-year-old actor was on his podcast Sibling Revelry with sister Kate Hudson last week, where he mentioned the ‘trauma’ he faced regarding his mother.
‘My mother was the one that I had almost the most trauma about, interestingly enough, because she was my primary caregiver and I was with her all of the time, so I felt unprotected at times,’ Oliver shared.
He added last week, ‘She would be working. She had new boyfriends that I didn’t really like,” he continued, emphasized that his mom was simply ‘living her life’ and described her as ‘an amazing mother.’
‘This is my own perception as a child who didn’t have a dad and needed her to be there,’ he clarified.

‘And she just wasn’t [there] sometimes and she came out far more than even my dad who wasn’t there.’
Hudson returned on Tuesday’s episode, to clarify the, ‘casual comments’ he made that, ‘were turned into clickbait,’ according to the episode description.
‘If you listen to the whole thing, it’s more about my child feelings in that moment rather than me and how I feel about Mom as a parent,’ Oliver said
He added that he was, ‘afraid to talk about it to inflame this even more,’ he insisted there was, ‘no trauma’ from his mother.
‘I don’t know who I would be without my mother. I can’t even fathom it,’ Hudson insisted on the podcast.
‘The love that I have for her and the respect and the reverence that I have for her is beyond anything,’ he added.
The actor and his sister Kate Hudson, 44, were mainly raised by the First Wives Club actress on her own after she split with their biological father Bill in 1980.
Goldie would end up meeting longtime partner Kurt Russell in 1983, when Oliver was seven years old.

Following Goldie and Bill’s separation, there was a prolonged period of strain in the relationship between Bill and Oliver and Kate.
However, the Hoffman Institute course helped Oliver come to a place of understanding for both Bill and Goldie, according to the actor.
‘The forgiveness and the compassion that you feel towards them at the end of this process is unbelievable because then you realize that they’re only repeating the ship that they went through, you know, with their parents,’ he explained on his podcast.
‘The forgiveness of my father was huge because his dad left him when he was five years old in the middle of the night, gone. You know, my dad didn’t do exactly that, but essentially he bailed, you know, so I can’t always help but think when we’re parenting, like what am I imprinting upon [my kids].’
