Olympic legend Ian Thorpe relists his luxury Sydney home on the market for $3.5million after failing to find a buyer

Ian Thorpe has listed his luxury Sydney home in the upmarket suburb of Woollahra on the market for a jaw-dropping $3.5million.

The Olympic gold medalist, 41, purchased the exquisite four-bedroom, three-bathroom townhouse in December 2017 for $2.75m.

He previously listed it on the market for $3.7million in September last year, but failed to find a buyer at that price.

The exquisite two-storey property sits on 250sqm and features spacious rooms, an outdoor swimming pool and a breathtaking outdoor tropical garden.

Thorpe has done extensive renovation work to the property, and it also features open plan living areas, a stunning remodelled terrace and stylish sliding doors.

It is perfect for families and entertaining and is located in a highly desirable location that is close to a variety of shopping amenities.

Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald in 2023, letting agent Courtney Wong said the home is the ‘best one’ in the area, situated away from the street.

‘It’s completely private and secluded,’ he added.

The incredible property is modern and airy with an open plan living space and large sliding doors that lead out into the courtyard.

A description for the property reads: ‘For those seeking a private escape with all the comforts of a luxury home, this is everything you could have dreamed of and more.’

‘A true gem tucked away at the quiet rear of a boutique block of only six, this residence represents the perfect mix of modernity and the natural world with its contemporary architectural design in a tranquil leafy setting.’

In November, Thorpe relocated and splurged an eye-watering $2.7million on a glorious pad in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Thorpe, who is known as one of Australia’s greatest Olympic swimmers, was a five-time gold medalist.

He rose to fame at age 17 during the Sydney Olympics in 2000, when he won five medals, including three gold.
