BREAKING NEWS: One dead in a shooting at a Walmart in Mississippi

  • One person was killed in the shooting at a Walmart in Southaven on Tuesday 
  • The suspect was shot but is still alive and a police officer was also injured
  • There is not thought to be any ongoing threat but police remain at the scene 
  • It occurred on Tuesday at 6.45am while many employees were outside 

One person has been killed in a shooting in a Walmart in Mississippi. 

The shooting happened on Tuesday at a Walmart in the town of Southaven which sits on the northeast state line between Tennessee and Mississippi. 

Along with the victim, the suspect was shot and a police officer was injured. 

No one has been identified and there is not thought to be an ongoing threat. 

The shooting began at 6.45am on Tuesday when multiple people who were outside the 24-hour store called 911 reporting an active shooter.

When police arrived, officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect and he was wounded.  

The suspect has not been named. He is believed to be in custody but his motive remains unclear.
