BREAKING NEWS: One injured in shooting at California high school

  • Ridgeway High School in Santa Clara, 50 miles north of San Francisco, was put in lockdown on Tuesday 
  • The shooter is yet to be identified and they are believed to be on the run 
  • One person was injured – an unidentified male victim who is in the hospital 
  • It remains unclear if the shooter is a student at the high school  

One person has been injured in a reported shooting at a high school near San Francisco. 

There is little information at the moment but police say the shooting occurred at Ridgway High School in the suburb of Santa Rosa, 50 miles north of San Francisco. 

The shooter is yet to be arrested but police say they are no longer a threat. 

‘We had a shooting on the campus of Ridgway High School this morning. Right now we have an outstanding suspect. We have one victim. It doesn’t appear to be an active shooter situation at this time,’ Santa Rosa police Sgt. Summer Gloeckner  said shortly after the incident. 

The high school was put on lock down along with two others that are adjacent to it. 

Armed SWAT teams are on the scene. 

One male victim is being treated at the hospital for a reported stomach wound, though it is unclear what his condition is, according to The Press Democrat.  

The incident began at around 9.10am on Tuesday. 

There are unconfirmed reports that the shooter was carrying a backpack. 

It remains unclear if they are a student at the school.
