One of Aussie sport’s hottest power couples share amazing news a year after going public with their romance

Matt Short and Madi Wilson are expecting a baby, with the loved up power couple sharing the amazing news in a special announcement video. 

Walking along the beach dressed in white, cricketer Short, 28, is seen holding hands with Olympian Wilson, 29, in romantic scenes. 

‘2 becomes 3. What a journey ours has been, we are excited to announce we are expecting our rainbow baby in 2024,’ they said in a joint post. 

‘It has been a whirlwind 12 months and we are so excited for what the future holds.’

The post onset a wave of congratulatory messages from the world of sport.

Madi Wilson and Matt Short have been dating for a year

Wilson’s fellow swimmers got involved, with Ariarne Titmus writing: ‘You’re glowing! So happy for you.’

Cate Campbell said: ‘I love everything about this!!’ while Mollie O’Callaghan said: ‘Congratulations you’re going to be an amazing mum.’

Former Olympic champion Brooke Hansen added: ‘Congratulations mate so happy for you all – enjoy the beautiful journey of parenthood.’

The pair had previously shared a photo from the Australia Cricket Awards in which Wilson, in a stunning red dress, placed her hand on her stomach with the caption: ‘Mum and Dad’. 

Short and Wilson debuted their romance at last year’s awards ceremony. The swimmer has previously dated fellow athlete Kyle Chalmers. 

Wilson made headlines in 2021 when she was hospitalised with Covid-19 while travelling in Italy for the International Swimming League.
