One of Australia’s most wanted fugitives Jonathan Dick who murdered his brother has been caught

Accused Westfield samurai sword killer is finally caught – after TWO YEARS on the run

  • He has been on the run ever since, but police believe they have caught him
  • The arrest comes after a $100,000 reward was offered last year

One of Australia’s most wanted fugitives has been arrested after spending two years on the run. 

Jonathan Dick is accused of killing his brother with a samurai sword at a Westfield shopping centre in Doncaster, Victoria, on February 3, 2017. 

He was seen on CCTV footage leaving the scene of the crime with what is believed to be the murder weapon and has been on the run ever since.

They believe the man in custody may be Dick.

Dick may have been stalking a potential victim at the time of his arrest, 7News reported. 

‘Information has been provided that the man may be Jonathan Dick however, police are yet to confirm this is the case,’ Victoria Police said in a statement.

Dick was also wanted for questioning over a hammer assault on a man (pictured) at Keilor five months after his brother's murder

Police said more information would be released when it was appropriate.

The arrest comes after a $100,000 reward was offered last year for Dick’s capture.

Police had believed he was being sheltered – possibly in someone’s home, or a hostel or boarding house – and getting by on cash-in-hand construction work.

Dick was also wanted for questioning over a hammer assault on a man at Keilor five months after his brother’s murder.
