One person has been shot dead and two others injured after an early-morning stand-off with police at a Super 8 motel in Illinois, where the shooter barricaded themselves inside.
Rockford Police said the shooting at the motel on Colosseum Drive happened just before 1am.
People are being asked to avoid the area.
Police chief, Dan O’Shea, said in a statement that a SWAT team had responded to the site of the shooting and that officers had discovered two victims with gunshot wounds.
A third victim was pronounced dead.
