One very surprising Married At First Sight fanbase revealed as season becomes one of the top rated ever: ‘They never miss it!’

Married At First Sight has been one of the top-rated prime time shows of 2024.

But there’s one surprising demographic the popular dating show has touched: senior citizens.

A member of a MAFS fan group on Facebook made the surprising revelation this week, claiming that the show is very popular in nursing homes.

‘Can I just say, I work in Aged Care and I have residents rushing out at dinner time to get their shower and bed routine done so they don’t miss MAFS! No joke!’ read the post.

‘I work in community Aged Care and I have clients who watch it too lol,’ confirmed another Facebook user.

‘Good to see them excited about it. Nice they look forward to a bit of trash TV. Gotta love it,’ wrote one group member.

‘Haha, this is so cute,’ wrote another user, while someone else remarked ‘when I worked in Aged Care it was Neighbours.’

‘Love this. My Mum is 82 and loves watching AU show in the UK!’ another person commented.

Other members of the group enjoyed the knowledge of show's elderly fanbase in the comments. 'Good to see them excited about it. Nice they look forward to a bit of trash TV. Gotta love it,' wrote one Facebook user

‘I’m not in Aged Care but I rush my dinner, dishes and put my PJ’s on to watch MAFS too…it is my secret addiction!’ wrote another.

It comes as the 2024 run of the show consistently dominated the night time commercial television ratings in Australia.

Every episode of season 11 achieved the number one spot of total overnight viewers, with the exception of episode 10 on the 12th of February, where it came in second after the Super Bowl broadcast.

The reality dating show consistently had over 1.2 million people watching, with a national reach of almost 3 million.

The explosive reunion dinner party, where newly minted ‘villain’ Jono McCullough arrived with Ellie Dix, had over 1.7 million MAFS fans glued to their screens.
