Martinez said it was around 10pm when he and Tommy Ong, heard at least two popping noises. Martinez said the noises were so loud it hurt their ears under the headphones.

The players started asking one another whether they were gunshots and immediately called Ha’s number. They listened as the phone kept ringing.

An hour later, Martinez told the Eagle that they could hear Ha’s 22-year-old sister finding the bodies.

‘She was panicking. … she was on the phone. She said she didn’t want to touch them. She said she didn’t feel safe,’ Martinez said.

Authorities responded to the scene after Ha’s sister called 911. The next day, police spoke to Martinez and his friend about what they heard.

Ong told KAKE that Ha had ‘answered the door and that’s when it happened’. Ong said the gunman may have been someone who wanted prescriptions medications from Ha’s mother.

According to Ong, Ha’s mother would give Ha some of the proceeds that she received from buyers. But police have not confirmed that prescription drugs may have been involved in the killing.

Ong remembers Ha ‘one of the nicest, inclusive, down to earth persons I’ve ever met’.

Ha's mother, Pham (pictured), has reportedly had conflicts with other people. In 2014, she received a temporary protection-from-stalking order when she claimed a woman threatened her by saying she had 'hired somebody to cause me harm for $2,000'

According to the Wichita Eagle, Ha’s mother, Pham, has had conflicts with other people.

In 2014, she received a temporary protection-from-stalking order when she claimed a woman threatened her by saying she had ‘hired somebody to cause me harm for $2,000’.

That same month, someone broke windows in the family’s stores and slashed tires on her son’s car, according to documents.

It’s unclear whether any of Pham’s troubles had anything to do with their deaths.
