Aduba is up for an Emmy next week for her portrayal of Dr. Brooke Taylor on the HBO show In Treatment. She’s past collected Emmys for her work on the FX show Mrs. America, and two Emmys for her work on Orange Is the New Black.

She began working on In Treatment less than two weeks after the death of her mother Nonyem.

Speaking with ET earlier this year, she lauded her late parent for her support and instilling confidence in her.

‘The simple truth is, I would not be here without that woman,’ Aduba said. ‘Period. End of story. I’ve never had a greater champion, a bigger supporter. She inspired me and encouraged me and my siblings every step of the way into believing that anything was possible that we could be and do anything even before I believed it.’
