Oregon DMV worker under fire for saying migrant kids should be killed

An Oregon Department of Transportation employee has been placed on leave after she posted a vile comment to Facebook calling for migrant children to be killed at the border.

The comment posted by Lori McAllen this week read: ‘I personally think they should shoot them all at the border and call it good… it’ll save us hardworking AMERICANS billions of dollars on our taxes!! ;)’

McAllen came under fire immediately for the heartless post and has seemingly shut down all of her social media accounts as hundreds of angry callers reported the matter to her employer and demanded she be terminated.

On Thursday, ODOT announced the agency is investigating the matter and the employee is suspended until further notice.

‘An employee linked to an offensive Facebook post is on leave while we investigate. We take this matter very seriously and very personally,’ the statement said.

‘The comment doesn’t reflect our agency values and is disturbing and hurtful. Thank you for your patience as we complete the investigation.’

The agency further thanked those who reached out with their concerns on the serious matter – adding that the comment is not a reflection of the department’s values.

‘We’re aware of a post that has been rapidly circulating through social channels espousing views offensive & abhorrent to the values of our agency.

‘There is an active investigation into the matter. Thank you to those who have shared your concerns and we take this matter seriously.’

The Linn County resident has been employed at the DMV for less than a year and currently earns $2,883 per month, according to Oregon Live.

Her comment comes after it was revealed last week that nearly 2,300 children were separated from adults at the border between mid-April and the end of May.

In May, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the ‘zero tolerance’ policy in which all those apprehended entering the US illegally, including those seeking asylum, would be criminally charged, generally leading to children being separated from their parents.

The children have been housed in detention centers along the US-Mexico border.

After nationwide outcry, President Trump signed an executive order Wednesday to reverse part of the policy in which children were separated from their parents.

‘What we have done today is we are keeping families together,’ Trump said during the signing of the executive order. ‘I didn’t like the sight or the feeling of families being separated.’

It is currently unclear what actions the government is taking to help the thousands of children already sent to detention centers.
