The couple reportedly met in 2000 when the former champion dipped his toes into the music industry and contacted Corretjer, a Puerto Rican singer and actress, about her appearing in one of his music videos after she caught his eye in another.

De La Hoya is reportedly asking for joint custody of their three children, but he’s willing to give Corretjer, 48, physical custody if he can have visitation rights.

In the filing, De La Hoya is also open to paying spousal support, as well as her lawyer fees.

The ring legend also has a daughter Atiana, whose stepfather is Travis Barker, with former beauty queen and Playboy model Shanna Moakler.

He also has two sons, Jacob and Devon, from previous lesser known relationships, both born in 1998.

The pair split for unknown reasons back in 2016, with the boxer proclaiming himself single in a video while partying at a Hollywood nightclub.

It is unclear why De La Hoya waited until this week to file for divorce. However, he is believed to be dating Holly Sonders, a TV host and businesswoman, since August 2021 with the pair being spotted together multiple times.

Back in 2011, De La Hoya admitted to cheating on Corretjer and admitted they had briefly separated for a time.

‘We are obviously not talking a Tiger Woods here, but I was unfaithful,’ he said in an interview with Univision, during which the former welterweight champion spilled the details of his marital, drug and alcohol problems.

De La Hoya recently lashed out at Dana White after footage emerged of  him slapping his wife at a night club, branding the UFC boss a ‘Boston aerobics instructor’.

White was on holiday in Mexico with his wife Anne to celebrate the new year when an argument broke out between the pair in the VIP area of a club, with the clash filmed by patrons at the venue.

De La Hoya tweeted: ‘My good friend @DanaWhite is so greedy he decided to steal fighter pay from his new league on TBS ‘Power Slap’ by getting fighter of the night against his WIFE. Those Boston aerobic instructors are real tough guys.’

De La Hoya was referring to the new Power Slap League, which was created by White, sees competitors try to knock each other out with open-handed slaps to the face, and has been widely criticized by MMA fans.

His jab that White is a ‘Boston aerobics instructor’ stems from the UFC boss’s time as a Boxercise instructor in the American city.

White and De La Hoya’s feud dates back to the 2017 showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, which De La Hoya said was ‘disrespecting the sport of boxing’.
