Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan are being considered for Beef season 2 – after different A-list pair fell through

Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan are in negotiations to potentially appear in season two of the hit Netflix series Beef.

According to Deadline, Isaac, 45, and Mulligan, 39, might star in the follow-up, which would see two feuding couples.

The first season of the show starred Ali Wong and Steven Yeun.

The second season has not yet been greenlit but creator Lee Sung Jin is reportedly working on the storyline.

Earlier this year Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway were in talks to play the leading roles but the outlet reports that it ‘ultimately did not come to fruition.’

May December star Charles Melton and Priscilla actress Cailee Spaeny are being eyed to play the other couple.

Wong starred in the first season of the limited series as a small business owner of Chinese descent drawn into an escalating cycle of vengeance and self-sabotage after a road-rage incident involving a struggling Korean American contractor (Yeun).

The series won numerous accolades for its writing and lead actors including five Primetime Emmy Awards, three Golden Globes, four Critics’ Choice Awards, two SAG Awards and trophies at the Independent Spirit and Producers Guild Awards.

Netflix and A24 were previously said to want production on the second season to begin by late summer or fall under the direction of showrunner and executive producer Lee Sung Jin.

In February Ali Ali notably won Best Lead Performance in a New Scripted Series at the Independent Spirit Awards.

In her acceptance speech, she acknowledged the cast and crew that were involved on the critically-acclaimed project.

‘Oh man, Steven, Sonny, Jake, and the rest of the cast and amazing crew of Beef, I wouldn’t be here without you. This is the best,’ she gushed.

‘It has been such a wonderful journey with you guys and I’m so proud that you guys are my friends, too,’ she added.

She then humorously gave another shout out to the catering business that provided tasty food on set. ‘

And gosh, I really want to give a special shoutout to our catering Mario’s,’ Wong said.

The actress continued: ‘Sonny is going to be so mad at me for letting out the secret that they are like the best, but they really have the best food and they really kept the morale going. We had such long days and just thank you so much. This means a lot. Thank you.’

Beef also won the award for Best New Scripted Series; Wong, Yeun and Jin took to the stage to accept the honor.
