Osher Günsberg reveals wild purchase he made which improved his mental health: ‘I’ve spent a lot of money trying to make myself feel better’

Osher Günsberg revealed on Sunday night the wild purchase he made for his home that has helped improve his mental health.

The former Bachelor host, 50, appeared on The Project to spruik the debut of his annual Tread As One challenge which raises funds for the R U OK? non-profit.

While on the news program, he admitted he and his wife Audrey Griffen bought a sauna so they could sit in and have meaningful talks about their mental health.

‘I’ve spent a lot of money in my life trying to make myself feel better than I do now,’ he told the Channel Ten panellists.

‘Some of those things have been stupid purchases, but one has been really good.

‘My chief financial officer, Audrey, my wife, said, ‘Just get the sauna.’ So we put a sauna in the backyard.

‘It’s hands down the greatest thing because you sit there, you steam it up and you have a chat and it’s great.

‘You’re just having a talk and whatever problems you’re talking about are always less than the problems of staying in there at 80 degrees for 20minutes.’

Osher has always been open about his battle with mental health issues.

The reality TV host narrated an eight-part AACTA nominated animated series about mental health called Woven Threads: Stories From Within in 2021.

In addition to the animated series, Osher has also released his own documentary about Australia’s suicide crisis called Osher Günsberg: A Matter of Life and Death.

The TV personality revealed to New Idea in September 2021 that seeking help was the key to getting better.

‘Reaching out to another human being was the thing that saved my life,’ he said.

He added: ‘Suicide is a very real and prevalent problem in our community, and I know firsthand what it’s like to experience suicidal ideation.’

Osher, who married make-up artist Audrey in 2016, was 40 when he was diagnosed with OCD, and had already been living with various mental illnesses.
