Outgoing Massachusetts governor Charlie Baker is set to become the next president of the NCAA when current leader Mark Emmert steps down in March

In a press release published Thursday, the NCAA announced that departing Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker will become its next president.

Current NCAA president Mark Emmert is set to step down after over twelve years in charge of the nation’s top collegiate athletics organization.

Baker will enter the post as the NCAA deals with an expanded transfer portal, the introduction of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals, and a push for expanded opportunities for athletes to join the professional ranks.
