Outrageous joke divides opinion on Today show

  • The Today show hosts were left divided on a pig-related joke on Friday morning
  • Tim Gilbert’s cannibal joke had Karl Stefanovic in stitches but others stunned
  • Co-hosts Lisa Wilkinson and Sylvia Jeffreys were less than impressed with gag

The time had only passed 7.15pm on the Today show but that didn’t stop Tim Gilbert from cracking an outrageous joke that drew shocked reactions from his fellow hosts.

Filming live from a Melbourne petrol station during ‘Free Fuel Friday’, Gilbert had to remind a fancy dress pig that a pie he’d picked up was in fact pork.

‘Piggy, piggy, piggy! That’s a pork pie!’ he joked, before the pig sheepishly backed away.

‘That is so wrong!’ she exclaimed after initially being left speechless with her mouth wide open.

The camera panned to Sylvia Jeffreys who also appeared to find the cannibalism joke had crossed the boundaries of acceptability.

Stefanovic on the other hand couldn’t contain his hysterics and was clapping and giggling away for an impressive 25 seconds.

Gilbert lapped up his reaction as he embraced an eager customer, before Wilkinson eventually saw the funny side as she carried on with the show.
