Outsider Stellar Story wins the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle on the LAST stride from odds of 28-1… with final-moment devastation for Harry Redknapp’s The Jukebox Man

Outsider Stellar Story has won the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle from odds of 28-1 at the start of the day, jockeyed by Sam Ewing.

The mount overtook Harry Redknapp’s The Jukebox Man in the final stride of a dramatic race that the former Spurs manager’s horse seemingly got in the bag.

Dancing City finished third, with favourite Readin Tommy Wrong well down the pack.

Redknapp looked gutted to have missed out on what would have been a surprise win. The Jukebox Man started the day with odds of 18/1 with Paddy Power.

Sam Ewing said: ‘Absolutely brilliant. He’s a horse who jumps very well, loves that ground today, he battled very hard for me. He was brillant. I can’t believe it.

Harry Redknapp was devastated to miss out on a surprise win as his horse The Jukebox Man was pipped at the post

‘The way the week was going, you think it’ll never happen. Unbelievable.

‘Fair play to the horse. He stuck his head out and tried hard to the end of the line.’

Redknapp told BBC Radio 5 Live: ‘What a run though. It was a great run. We have a nice horse and he jumped the last well but that’s racing.

‘Yesterday we got home, today we just missed out but we have had two great runs from two lovely horses. I’ve had a smashing couple of days

‘If you had said coming here that I would have a winner and one that runs so well, I’d have taken it.’

More to follow.
