Owen Wilson channels Bob Ross in first still from upcoming film Paint about fictional TV painter

Owen Wilson channeled late painter Bob Ross in the first still from the upcoming film Paint.

The 54-year-old actor portrays a fictional television painter in the comedy who has an uncanny resemblance to Bob, who died on July 4, 1995, at age 52.

The film centers on Carl Nargle who has hosted the top painting show in Vermont for nearly three decades, according to a plot summary.

The station, however, hires a new painter to revitalize the channel and Carl starts doubting his talents as a painter.

Paint was written and directed by Brit McAdams, who is making his feature film directorial debut with the movie.

The film also stars Michaela Watkins, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ciara Renee, Lusia Strus and newcomer Lucy Freyer.

Paint is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 28 with distribution by IFC Films.

Owen also has a starring role in the upcoming supernatural horror comedy Haunted Mansion adapted from The Haunted Mansion theme park ride that first opened at Disneyland in 1969.

Haunted Mansion also stars Rosario Dawson, LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Winona Ryder, Dan Levy, Jared Leto, Danny DeVito, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

It is the second film based on the theme park attraction following the 2003 movie The Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy, 61.

Owen also will reprise his role as Mobius M. Mobius for season two of Loki on the Disney+ streaming service.

Season two of Loki is scheduled to premiere in mid-2023.

The Dallas native has brothers Andrew, 58, and Luke, 51, who are also actors.
